How to make your Boxster feel REALLY fast.

We just got back from holiday in New Zealand, which I have to say is a beautiful place. We toured around but rented the cheapest car we could which was a 'nice' new, probably 1300 cc Automatic Toyota Yaris.
It's hard to describe just how slow this thing was, but you'd need to plan for weeks ahead if you were brave enough to try an overtake something. What was even more upsetting was that the roads on Bay Of Islands were some most lovely twisty empty Boxster friendly roads I've ever driven on, except I was in a Yaris.

We got back and yesterday I took the Box out for the first time in two weeks, and floored it to the red line in 2nd gear. GOOD GRIEF
And some of you guys think you need a Boxster S.....????
My advice is hire a base Auto Yaris for a week and see what you think then

As an aside and shameless plug, I've done a new song which features some nice video of New Zealand as well as a few other places if anyone fancies watching it. PLEASE. I'm trying to get all the way up to 50 views..... :ah:

As the saying goes "everything is relative." I get the feeling after driving my 1.8L 140hp Honda Civic.

The Toyota Yaris is hideous. Enjoyed the video and music. The bike taxi guy's are fearless. My 97 Base Tip is all the faster I need to drive. I was doing 100 back and forth to Palm Springs this weekend. Any faster than that and you are just showing off.

I tried to drive a Yaris once, but fell asleep before I could put it in gear.
Renting or borrowing an average car for a couple of days should be a monthly ritual for any daily-driver Boxster/Cayman owner.
Whenever I put my car in the shop for maintenance, I'll drive my 2000 Wrangler, or go borrow my dad's backup car, 2002 Stratus, and the experience getting back in the Boxster after a few days is nothing short of orgasmic.
Not just the speed and handling, but the smoothness and solid feel (on a 16 year old car no less).
:)

I rented one of those Tonka Toys to teach my kids how to drive a stick
it was a POS and a slow pig. On the other hand, it was great for teaching how to drive a stick

Nice video. If I might make a suggestion to improve watchability (if that's a word), pan slower and try and be more smooth and continuous. Also, pause the filming to do your zoom, then resume filming. Try to avoid segments under five seconds. The music is great!

You're right. Unfortunately it's not too easy to zoom smoothly on a smartphone. Obviously this is just a temporary video as I'm planning on hiring the same company that Porsche use for their videos once I've saved up :-)

Thanks!

There you are at 50 views now :D. On a side note I will be renting one of these cars on my vacation this spring, at least I won't get any speeding tickets

Woo hoo! Thanks everyone, I'd also like to thank my parents, my friends and my manger... :-)

If you are renting a Yaris the only danger you'll be in, is being pulled over for holding the traffic up. Best to drive only at night when no other cars are around:-)

Well I will be on Curacao and I think the max speed limit is 37kmh. I hope I can get it to that speed lol.

Curacao is a wonderful island. I was doing a project there years ago and spent a lot of time there.

Classic!

I am in a Kia Seoul in Redmond this week and had some excitement this morning as I turned left into a parking garage but instead understeered toward a line of parked cars, luckily it caught and I didn't crash. Black ice..

I will be glad to get back and out of that car, but it does sit a little higher and I like the visibility :)

Great!! This will be my first time there. I'm sure the weather will be a little nicer than upstate ny in March.

yes it should be a lot warmer

If you want to try diving, most of the hotels have dive shops and do resort courses for diving

Like it :)

I've just thought of another use for the Yaris. If you want to make your 986 look
even more beautiful, then just park next to one.
