Headlights - de ambered!

So after my wife buying me clear led rears and clear sides for my Xmas I decided today to follow particlewaves guide and de amber my headlights. I'm chuffed, they look a million times better!

Still have to paint the inner reflector black to get rid of the slight yellow tinge and also need to get clear infills but for now I've wrapped mine in perforated silver vinyl which doesn't look too bad as a temporary measure!

IN PROGRESS

Looks much better... IMO. I think all the silver and gray Boxsters should have the clear lenses.

I think all boxsters should have them!

I used the dremel with an 8mm rotary cutter and a multi cutting attachment with depth adjustment set to around 1.2MM.

Then I used a mouse sander with 60 grit to do a first smoothing working my way down to finer grit before a Polish with rubbing compound then my das 6.

Once it looked smooth enough I lacquered them and gave them another flat and Polish.

They could probably do with another coat of lacquer and polished again but I ran out of time!

Yes ill be going led, there just normal orange ones at the moment as i had a pair lying in my garage.

As for the front spoiler, im not sure of the make as it was on the car when i got it, its a very good fit though and has all the holes in the right places for the under tray bolts etc so i believe its a good quality one.

Someone on here said that it looked like a techart item but i couldnt see one that looked exactly like it on their website.

What kind of a cutter depth attachement did you use? can you post pics, part numbers? cannot find one anywhere. My daughter is in Scotland right now this could work!

Sideways Steve 01-05-2016 03:29 AM

The cutter is a dremel high speed cutter part number 115

The guide i used is contained in dremel attachment kit 565

Personally, I have always loved external lights that have color in them. I think they look great on most colors, but especially good on black, white, green, and silver cars.
