Dark lenses by overhead light?? '02 Boxster S
 

I am trying to figure out what the function of the two dark oval lenses are, that sit right by the three way switch and dome light on my Boxster. Under one dark lens appears to be a circular LED ( that doesn't illuminate) and under the other one is a circuit board.

The three way switch operated the overhead light properly, but nothing seems to make the circular "LED" light come on and there doesn't appear to ba any other switches to operate it.

Any help?

They are the covers for the motion detection part of the alarm system.
