BrakeDiscs & BrakePads
There is a need to change the front BrakePads and I am thinking to replace all brakeDiscs and BrakePads and paint the calipers to red or yellow??
I would go for sport BrakeDiscs Please could u give me a ratring of the best brands other than brembo? What is your opinion about zimmerman? see attached zimmermann photohttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1448531008.jpg |
THe zimmerman discs are good. I have used them in the past with no issues. StopTech is also a well known name. I know of a guy the bought some Centric that are working well. I prefer the slotted rotors over drilled if you are looking at performance rotors and long life.

I warped the left frt rotor on my CSS from the DE at COTA and found O'Reilly's sells a Bosch zinc-coated (hat) rotor for $80 ea. Good price, good rotor, and you don't have to pay a king's ransom in shipping. Did a DE at Kansas Speedway with them and they worked fine.
However, not sure if there's an O'Reilly's in Cyprus. Hopefully so but passing this nugget along for others reading the thread. |
Couldn't seem to figure out how to attach a pic the new way onto an existing response, so here it is in a new response. Don't want the Size Police coming after me.
Isn't she pretty? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1448548494.jpg |

Thanks!! the link you provided doesn not support boxster 2004, What is the difference of coated brake discs? If I need the sport edition?Should I buy the drillled?
What do u suggesto for brakepads? Which brand is the best? |
Those are the exact front rotors I got for my 04 S
the rear ones are You can do a search for others as well. What model do you have? I have a feeling shipping costs from the USA to Cyprus will be high. Its generally free shipping in the US. Rotors are heavy, ~ 9 kilos each IIRC The coating is on the entire rotor, hat and disk. the coating comes off the disk part as you use the brakes . The coating will keep the rotor from rusting, so basically it is cosmetic As far as brake pads, I went with EBC Red Stuff and got them for just under $200 for both front and rear You choice of pads is dependant on the type of driving you do, how much your care about brake dust and how much you want to spend Do you track the car or do autocross? |
When I replaced the pads on mine last year (I think it was last year... or maybe mid-to-late 2013) I went with OE Textar all around. Sure they dust up a storm but they work as intended. ;) That's just me, though. Plenty of good pads out there.

Hello, I am also looking to upgrade my brake rotors on my 1999 boxster base, i like the rotors that the boxster S have. Do you guys know a brand that offers the drill configuration for the boxster base? Or can I use the ones of the S on my car. I will appreciate any help.

There are probably companies that make slotted rotors for the base (Zimmerman?) but you have to get base rotors. Good idea to measure the diameter of your current rotors so you know exactly what you need. There can be lots of confusing options available. |
Buy Porsche Boxster (986 / 987 / 981) Boxster 986 2.7L 2003-04 SPORTS Brake Disc | Design 911
This is a very good and usefull link. I found sport rotor for base model but I dont know what brand is....do u believe is the original porsche? Thanks |
