lots of posts guys, thank you very much. I'm enjoying the back and forth and hope other are as well. sorry for those who don't like these kind of threads. i'll ease up on the "lol" also.

so the drive home was so fun. i did get a feel for how this kind of car differs from others I've owned. also noticed that it doesn't wake up till about 3700rpms, then it sets you back pretty nicely :D It does seem like the suspension was a wise move. does anyone have any thoughts on the lowering springs? just a question... don't hate on me lol... i mean ha ha ha

driving school..... again i hear ya and not saying anyone is wrong. i just cant see me paying some one to show me that. but I'm also out in the sticks of the thumb in Michigan where there is not much around. as long as i can dodge cows in the road i should be OK.

that shifter feels a little stiff. is that normal?

notice my navigator in the passenger seat ;) my little buddy loves doing car stuff with me. the man upstairs has blessed me.

as far as my other cars "pics of said supras" etc. lo... ha ha I'll load up some pics of some of my projects as well.

Plenty of great people have been rubbish at spelling. In the office beside me there's a guy who drives a Maserati GT, owns several office complexes and can't spell to save himself. Wish I had his problems.

ok so attached is the car i'm building right now. i'm actually building two of them one for me and one for my brother. mine is a 383 lt1 bolted to a boxster s trans. the other is a 5.3 lq9 twin turbo bolted to an audi 5hp. mine should be around 500hp and the 5.3 will be around 800hp. they will weigh about 2200lbs and stand at 40" tall with a 105 wheel base. they ARE NOT replicas or built on donor cars. i am building my own frames, and my own body. the closest car i can see that looks similar would be a noble.

the other picture is of my current vette. i stripped it down to the frame and redid everything on it. from radiator to rear end. i also cut out my fenders and made a wide body look in the rear. i currently have 305/35/18 on there. i'll post up some pics of my 5.3 twin turbo camaro and a supra pic or two when i fire up my tower pc.

no worries ;)

one more of my current project. this was in the beginning stages. the panels are just held together with clamps and such.

i cant take credit for the design of the car. i bought the molds off a man in canada. great guy with some awesome vision. there is only three of these car. mine my brothers and his and i own the molds ;) lol

The more you drive the Boxster, the more you will like it
The power curve is about 3500-6000
comes on like gang busters and 3rd gear is good to just under 100
It has a good rev limiter, so you are safe to push it

as far as driving school, many of the PCA chapters have DE/TT track days. Lots of laps and they give you an instructor
I am doing one this weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway. cost under $300 for 2 days. You get almost 2 hours of actual track time

No no no... ok come on... Ever here of the "corvette challenge"??? Read up on it cuz poerche was part of it as well. Seriously to say the vette handles like poo is just silly. Ive had a few and ive had some awd turbo eclipse's and now this porsche. Ill give cudos to any car but to say the vette is only a straight line kinda car ... Ya i dont think so lol this porsche handles like a dream for sure but my vettes does as well. My current vette has all poly bushings and an after market suspension. It handles great.

To the sticky tires in the other post. Had to, with the stock 300hp it would light em up. ive added about 150hp to it with 3:54 gears and a stall. I needed to get some of that to the ground ;)

Again, takes no more than a mildly setup Miata or Civic to over take any typical Corvette. I've owned personally 9 built DSMs and during my rein of terror running Southwest Speed back in the day have built or oversaw the builds of many, and not one vette myself nor any of the group I would frequently talk to would compete, quick in straights against any Low HP car but road hogs in corners. My last DSM, when I was racing it was rolling on complete built suspension, 426awhp/393awtq quick spooling TD06 20g, etc... I'd attend as many events as I could and never placed behind a single vette.

*yawn* this thread isnt about vettes vs porsches but again ill say your comments are just silly. To say a vette is what you say ... Lol nope. Ive owned two dsm's as well one built and one stock. Besides the fact that we are comparing cars that are in different classes the vette holds its own against the best of them. This is about as juvenile as "my dad can beat up your dad" when in the end ... Both our dads can make pancakes on a sunday morning just fine for both our families lol. Dont get me wrong i love these debates but i stand by my view that to say a vette is junk compared to what ever is just silly. Shucks go read a motor trend or any other car mag that compares them. Vettes are amazing cars. Every car has its strengths and weakness ;)

I haven't owned a DSM in over 3 years. I've had the Porsche for 2 of those, and despite it being severely slow compared, it's reliable and good looking and that's more important to me at this point. Last thing I need is an expensive paper weight.

Wow i hope im not coming across like that :( i dont know any saudi princes, my dad died last year from pancreatic cancer and died a poor man. Plus im short pale and pudgy... Hardly worth being a conceded jerk over lol i try to be no different then the guy next to me who is a secret super hero living a life of humility and perfection ;) i have had a lot of fun cars but mostly because i wait for good deals and dont mind fixing broken stuff :)

Oh, that was certainly not aimed at you. We love seeing happy Boxster owners. That's why he didn't fit in. We are (mostly) normal people (I can't enter any discussions about small feline mammals anymore by site staff request) who enjoy their Porsches, even if they are a non-S or a Wussamatic. ;) (from yet another thread...)

My dad had a major stroke and will pass with some nice things but less cash than I have on me right now. :( Sorry to hear about your dad's passing. Hope he was comfortable to some extent. My dad just walks into an occasional wall or takes his own walk and my uncle has to find him. :(

Thanks for the kind words . He went pretty peacefully. Life is a journey and lots of hard lessons to learn along the way.

Very happy porsche owner here. I found my self smiling alone in the car on the way to work this morning :) its a fun little car.

Hopefully i dont offend to many people with my desire to personalize it some. I like to enjoy my cars and ill admit im not one who subscribes to "keep it stock" thinking... Which is probably why some unsubscribe lolol its all good.

No we were just flaming on our good friend Mr. Landa. As far as modding or personalizing your car I say go for it. I've changed the whole interior of mine from red to black. I'm sure some people think that was a dumb move, but I like it. There really aren't many inexpensive performance mods that actually improve performance on these cars. That is probably why everyone was suggesting driving school instead of mods. That being said a smaller drive pulley gives it a little (5hp maybe) bump. These can be found for around $200 or so. Exhaust headers are also said to slightly improve performance, although I haven't tried them yet. Welcome to the forum :cheers:

You might look into getting the gear oil changed, it probably has not been done in a while if ever.

Enjoy your car. That third gear pull you felt is what the car is about. The noise and sound and the fact that you can do that exiting a corner. Find a twisty road and have fun.

Lol ok but seriously :) check the gear oil... Is it normal to be a little stiff? It doesnt bother me just wanted to know if i need to check into it. I was sitting in it at lunch and found a paper in the pocket that was a receipt for a short shifter... But the shifter is still factory looking cover. So i guess i should look under the cover and see what i have in there.

Ok third gear... Or any gear. You guys didnt need to sand bag on the info ;) lol this car is totally different over 4k rpms. The ride home was on a fun road and i really opened it up. I didnt want to shift over 6k but keeping it over 4k was quite a thrill :) wow what a fun ride!!!

Im really not into going fast but i had to see lol i got it up there pretty high on a long straight way... High lol good thing those cows were put away ha ha

If you do have a short shifter it could be a bit stiffer. The stock one can be a little stiff until the tranny is warmed up a little. Since you don't know the service history, it would not hurt to change all the fluids including the trans fluid. Generally it is best to use Porsche trans fluid. It is a 90k service IIRC as well. If you do have a short shifter and would rather have a stock one, I am sure you would have no problem either selling it here of doing a swap with someone.

if it is a short shifter i'll stay with it :) i prefer short. not sure on the tires. i'll have to look. i know they are soft, i could sink my finger nail in it like the ones on my vette. as far as breaking it loose... it did break loose on me this morning around a corner in 2nd gear... scared the ___ out of me cuz it whipped fast, but like a champ .... i recovered lolol gotta love my arrogance guys lol

i'm sure i would enjoy a course in driving with this car but i will probably never head down state to do it. we are happy hermits out in the country.

so I've been so busy defending vettes and my driving skills that i haven't said much about the car as far as what all it is or posted up to many pics. soooo like mentioned in another post i was considering a miata or a datson z and found this porsche online about 2 hours from me at suburban ford in sterling heights. it was listed for $7400, had 99k on the odometer and said it was clean with no rust. when i called the sales person said the only thing they could find wrong with it was a rip in the cover by the window but it had the hard top as well. said he had three people on there way to buy it including someone in transit driving up from ohio. so i bought it over the phone to hold it. pics below are ones i just took before it got dark. the last pic.... i have some mad body skills and by the end of next summer it might... might look like that ;)

ya i was thinking the same thing. was it just the heat from the motor and the temp out side ??? it was low 50's today here.

um i wouldn't know this is the first porsche shifter i've seen. the tip is flimsy. what do they normally look like ?

Ya my stick looks longer then that *chuckle* hmm ill have to pull off the cover and check it out. The tip off it bends, Ill will look.
