evap vacuum

I have been tracking down a common howling noise from the gas cap area caused by the evap system. I believe I have found the culprit. I would just like to know the best way to test this part before I decide to order another. I did put 12v to it and it did not click, move, or buzz. Any ideas or experience that you might have to help point me in the right direction would be great. Also i have searched and found and read every post I can about this.
EDIT: I went back and started looking at it and my test cables had a short in them. Tested with different cables and it does click. Went ahead and put it back together and now I am at a loss. What part or parts tell it to close and why? It's obviously my culprit because I was able to put voltage to it while it was put together (complicated) and it did close to vacuum. The wiring is good and doesn't have any shorts that I can find and it is flexible without any brittle area's. Will a Durametric be able to zero in on the problem or other software? I can completely understand now why people cover the hole and/or deal with the sound now haha.

I've tried to find the solution to that coke bottle sound to no avail. Since it's only at low speeds, I just drive faster!

As of this morning I now can't fill the tank up easily if at all.

Do you have code P0446?
Check fuse E6
Lots in Search -common issue

I have seen that code, yes, but that fuse is fine.

Its a slenoid valve under the drivers side intake plenum. Trace a rubber hose that connects to the throttle body back to the intakeand you will find it. Replave it and it will cure bothe the "moo cow" noise frkm the gas filler and the gas filling problem.

Sesrch my name and you will find a detailed description.

is that the regenerative hose/valve?

mipstien 11-05-2015 06:39 AM

I used a durametric today and the evap test pass. it does not shut the sound down. I'll be checking the regenerative valve and probably getting a new valve that I had the picture of.

Pinch off the rubber hose that i described above. If the noise and the gas filling problembgo away you found youre problem.

awesome I will try that right now.

Checked it just now. Yes it made the sound stop. I pulled the hose at the intake and cleaned up and let it soak in some intake cleaner. Put back together and no howl. I still am getting a new valve and hose but it's temporary until i can get a part number and order it.
