Heated Seat and Power Window switch

Over the past 2 weeks both of my driver side switch has been acting funny.

Window Switch:
The driver side window switch seems to be stuck. I can roll the window down but can't roll it up. The switch does not want to rock into the up position. If I push down hard on the switch, it will move enough to activate the power to roll the window up, but the switch is not moving. Perhaps something stuck under the switch under the up position?

Seat warmer:
Again, on the driver side. The red light comes on, but as soon as I let go the red light goes out. Passenger side works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

My first step would be to take the switches out, spray them with contact cleaner, brush off any crud, and try them again. If that didn't work I would probably try replacing the switches.

I think you may have posted on Rennlist and I provided a response on that forum. If that was you, you didn't mention that both the window and seat heater switches weren't working. Maybe someone spilled something there and the switches are gummed up.

If cleaning the switches as suggested by Mark T doesn't work, there are several other possibilities. The next thing I would check is the Control Unit Seat Heater (Relay) under the seat. You could swap the relay from the passenger seat since you know that works. You can also swap the switches from the passenger to the driver's seat to rule out a problem with the switch.

This article on retrofitting OEM seat heaters contains detailed information including diagrams and part numbers regarding the design and operation of the seat heaters: Dennis Vogel: Projects - Boxster Heated Seats

Here's the diagram showing the control module: http://www.dennisvogel.com/heatedsea...eatharness.gif
