I completely agree! I just got a 987 in and I had hoped the interior had been improved on. No luck and it almost looks like it has gotten worse. It's a 2005 with only 67k and it has scratches or peeling paint everywhere on the interior pieces.

High mile 987 and 997 interiors are abysmal! It's like a militant hard edged styling of the 9X6 cars but made to be more German and lower quality at once.

The 986 interior isn't great, but it feels more generally European as apposed to VW bug/Jetta
