Steering wheel wiring for a TIP

I have a 99 Boxster TIP. I changed to a 3 spoke steering wheel. When I took the old wheel off I found 1 wire Red with a brown or yellow stripe coming out of the plug but not connected to anything. I am trying to figure out what it is for and how to reconnect it. the thumb switches on the steering wheel don't work for the tip and I am wondering if this is the reason. I have looked at the schematic for it and there is no RD/BR or RD/YW wire. The pics are below.

Tiptronic wheel clock springs have a loose unused wire. You're good, no worries.

Also, this is not the reason for the tips wheel buttons not working.

Here is one like yours out of the car. Same thing with a loose wire.
