Updated the speakers in my 98 Boxster

Had a rare Saturday off and got some stuff done on the Boxster. I bought a rear speaker kit from Woody (Thanks) and replaced the speakers in it with some 3 1/2 in Infinity Reference Series speakers. It didn't take long for the retro to put the speakers in the rear box, it took me forever to get the wires up to the amp in the fronk. I also upgraded the amp to a 6 channel so I have complete control of the sound. Next I think I will upgrade the head unit, just looking for the right one. If anybody needs a 4 channel amp from a 98 I have a perfect one for sale.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1444517819.jpg

I replaced all my speakers and added speakers to the rear also. But I also added a set of 4x6 to the center that I had purchased years ago but never installed. also replaced the head unit with a DD. BIG IMPROVEMENT!

That is very nice. You've convinced me I need to do that!. What kind of speakers did you use?

I was holding onto that kit for awhile for myself. I had planned on doing the same or maybe some small subs. That's until I had an 03 come in with a good Bose system.

buy the kit on ebay or suncoast

I looked at making it myself and at the end of the day by the time you buy all the materials and the speakers, it is close to the cost of the kit. Also getting a complete wiring harness with the right connectors saves a lot of time and effort

I put the ebay kit (same kit is on suncoast) and it made an amazing difference as I only had dash speakers before. I had already changed out the dash speakers before. There are a few threads in DIT on this

Thanks guys, I think it turned out great. I can understand the songs now while driving with the top down and going 80....
Thanks again Woody for the retro kit, the Infinity Reference speakers (3 1/2") fit with alittle work and I love the look and sound. Now a new head unit.....sometime.
