Expensive week and a half......

Roughly 10 days ago had to replace the water pump ($799), and on Thursday I had to replace the fuel sending unit ($530).

I would complain, but after 13 years of ownership, those are the first two items to go out. The only other money I have spent on the car has been maintenance. I am looking around for wood to knock on right now.

I must also say that I truly appreciate this forum, as I was able to research the problem and point my shop in the right direction for both repairs.

The key to continued good luck is not to have the Boxster as your only car for 12 years or more. My expenses have been nearly $14k in the last 2 years alone. Not including the IMS,flywheel, clutch doozy, consumables and some mucho pricey upgrades. Got a whistle form a girl yesterday though so I guess that makes it okay..

If you don't mind me asking, what were the symptoms (if any) that lead up to you replacing the sending unit?

There was a smell of gas in the car when stopped. It was not there when driving. When I got out of the car after driving I could smell it outside as well. Particularly strong by the passenger wheel well, and in the frunk when opened.

Wow. So few repairs in all those years. Porsche did a much better job building Porsches in 2003 compared to 1997!

I really should have sold my first year Boxster for a much newer model years ago.
