horn is overly sensitive
So, lately, in the past month or so, I've noticed when I go over some light bumps my horn lets out a beep. Sometimes when I pull on the steering wheel when getting in and out of the car, the horn beeps. Anyone had/have this horn sensitivity and a fix?

It is a fairly easy fix involving rubber O-rings and removing the airbag it worked for me on my 2000.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WqhZaaXL2I Follow the directions very carefully because you have to use two O-rings on each bolt one on the front and one on the back. I did not and had to do it twice. Rick |
I had to replace my O rings as well. They just get mushed down after awhile and don't do their job. If you feel your horn is overly sensitive, perhaps you should ask what's bothering her and how your periodically pushing her around makes her feel.

Although the o-rings or airbag frame replacement is the untimate fix, you can also try sliding a business card in the slot between the wheel and the car. It worked on a 98 that I had with the same problem.

thanks everyone for the help. I'll try fixing tomorrow after work.

I had this same problem and tried the fix. For some reason the o-rings weren't cooperating. My workaround was to take a piece of foam pipe insulation and cut little donut like pieces with an x-acto knife. The foam is sponge-like and easy to handle. Seems like it'll hold up fine.

+1 for the o-ring hack. I did it a year ago and still good. Be very careful with the airbag.
