Remote lock question (2003 S)
I have a 2003 S and am confused about the remote lock/unlock. Sometimes when I lock the doors I get a chirp and sometimes I don't. I don't do anything different, get out, press the lock button, that's it.
Any ideas? Thx, Bob |
The "chirp" means something isn't closed or locking correctly (usually the center console lid).
If it's locking and arming properly, it won't make that sound. |
I just learned something new. Didn't know the center console lid locks with the remote!
|
Sorry, bad wording. The lid doesn't lock with the remote, but the central locking system will see an error and "chirp" if it's not fully closed.

Have the same problem. Durametric says lock sensors in frunk and trunk, both doors, and central console lid work fine. Still, I get the chirp.
It started when I put in an aftermarket Becker radio. Its alarm light flashes when car is locked, but could it be the little cable in the back needs to be grounded (or at +12V)? |
Thanks all for the stuff to check, I'm betting that it's the center console on my car.
Thx again, bob |

Take a look at the right side of the below photo. You will see where the ground wire is attached. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNj...Vf2m6/$_57.JPG Quote:

Yeah disconnect it. If you leave in there you may find that this grounds and sets alarm off randomly. Designed so that if you park with roof down and someone tries to extract radio it sets alarm off.
Alternative is to stick felt to side of radio , per the radio that will have come out of car, think it's on LHS of radio. |
Thanks guys.
Took the radio out today, disconnected and isolated the cable, and I still get the chirp. What else to check? |
