Removing Lint from Convertible Top?
 

I have some various lint building up quickly on the convertible top (I've only had the car 3 weeks!), from various sources like professional car washers not doing a professional job, and also from my california car duster (i didn't dust the top, it just somehow blew on there from other parts of the car). What's the best/quickest way to remove lint from the top?

Also, speaking of those California Car Dusters, do you guys suggest them? Do you use them on windows too?

I use a mini California Car Duster on my interoir which works great. To remove lint from the top just run a lint roller(intended for clothes) over it.

1-Raggtopp protectant for your canvas top and look into getting a soft top cover if you leave your outside for more than a few hours every day.

2-on dark paint I dont AT ALL recommed any car duster.

Basically with an quick detailing you only want to do it when the both the paint surface and the towel are wet/damp.

The most professional way to dust off a car is to use a quick detailer FK #425 (keeps the surface too slick for dust) and a waffle weave towel (just got some very nice towels from www.poorboysworld.com. Mist the entire panel and the towel and use downward strokes. Flip the towel with each pass so that you always have a clean side touching the paint. and try to minimize the number of passes across the paint.
Allot of pros that I know will never dry a car without first lubricating the paint surface with a quick detailer like Mother's or Meguiar's. Makes sense.

And don't quick detail often. It will micro marr your paint.

For non-quick detailing (when the paint is just washed) i use this:

Yes, that's great but he wants to know how to get lint on the top. :rolleyes:

I use a lint roller like the ones you get at dry cleaners but a strip of packing tape wrapped sticky side out around your fingers will do the same thing. You can either dab it or pull it across the top, it won't hurt the fabric.

Yes, one question posed by wt888usa was regarding removing lint from the top and Blinkwatt did a good job of mentioning the lint roller. The other question was regarding the California Duster and both Blinkwatt and Perfectlap stated their opinions on its acceptability. Perfectlap provided an alternative method to the the California Duster. What's with the :rolleyes: ?

You need to DRIVE FASTER!

I use a lint roller too, it's perfect and works great.

had the same issue yesterday, and used the lint roller from my wife's closet...worked pretty darn well. Also, re: the Cal. Car Duster....never used one in my life, and found that I like it vs. Quick Detailing all the time to remove pollen, light dust, etc. If your car has dust build-up from more than 2 days or so, or it looks heavy, I wouldnt use it...but it works pretty well for light soil. I actually used it under halogen lights to test if it was scratching or marring, and didnt see any noticeable issues. Discretionary to the owner, I guess...
