Water coolant valve
 

Hi, just changed the water coolant valve and not noticed this before so thought I would ask. The valve opens when the engine is running hot before the fans come on, is this normal? There are no leaks now, but recently I had to change the oil cooler tank and change the water due to oil in it, since then its been a hassle sorting the air in the water and now this is happening.
