Newb advice needed

I just rolled 30k miles on my 01S. Purchased with 27k miles - it obviously sat for long periods of time. I've replaced IMS/RMS, CV joint, fluids & tires. At what point do I need to consider serpentine belt, AOS & water pump replacement?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, just ordered Smoked/Red DEPO tails...

It's really up to you. I'd do the serpentine belt now if I didn't know its age. The water pump and AOS may stay good for a long time, or fail soon. New are usually good for a long time after replacement which is why I change these things proactively before failure. Do you know how old they are?

IMHO, the water pump should be done now. I have an '01 S with 26,000 miles on it and just did the water pump. Because it has composite impeller it can break loose apart and ruin the engine. Even though the pump baring may be good, the impeller is 14 years old. I believe the rule of thumb now is every four years it should be changed out. I was a tad late!

How was your IMSB? Was it a dual or single row?

I would change the belt now and get the AOS and WP done when you have time (no huge hurry but they are nearly 15 years old).

IMSB was double row. I essentially replaced a perfectly good bearing with a new bearing....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

serp belt is not expensive and very easy to do. Takes longer to get access to it that to actually change the belt

My WP just failed, on an 04 with 72k miles
Its a relatively easy DIY

I have a recent thread with where I got everything. WP, thermostat and 3 gal coolant was ~$350
Certainly wont hurt to change out the WP and AOS

I would do the water pump now. Too much risk on that old plastic.
