Question Trim the trim?

Due to some front-end damage (former post about the Nürburgring), I had to replace (along with TONS of other parts) the "trim cover" part 996.504.811.00 that goes around the lower lock mechanism of the front lid.

I ordered this from my official Porsche dealer and he sends me part 996.504.811.02 claiming that the old part has been discontinued and was replaced with this one. Only, it doesn't fit:

The "wings" that go on either side of the frunk that are supposed to sit flush in the channels, don't. Parts sales guy at the dealer still claims it's the right part and it needs to be modified by trimming some part of it but his service department can't tell me where exactly. Anybody heard such heresy?

I just bought one of those, and did not have that problem. The one I received fit the same as the old one, and it was the same part number as yours. Perhaps the part was changed very recently.

Would you mind taking a picture of the same area and checking the part number along with any of the trailing numbers? Is yours a post-facelift car?

Thanks,
Paul

Ah, but notice that's the .00 part number. (The -01C at the end is a color code and no, these did not come in any other color than black.)

This is the part that my Porsche dealer's parts department claims has been discontinued. If I don't find a way of modding the newer part, I'll try to locate something like this from a reseller or used.
