Bumper pads in rear ? Need assist to a refinish thread
I call them bumper pads, the two black rectangular rubber parts on either side of the license plate.
I have been searching for a DIY thread on how to refinish them; can someone post their DIY link to this... Thanks, |
On this forum a lot refer to them as "bumperettes"
Search and you will find many posts, like this one: http://986forum.com/forums/show-tell-gallery/5877-bumper-before-after.html |

I used Forever Black on mine. Works way better than Back-to-Black, and it's a dye versus a dressing.

If you're lazy like me you can purchase a pair of body color matched bumperettes from BumperPlugs.com.

I got some wax on mine recently, and now there's white residue visible and won't go away with washing. I'll probably clean them up and plasti dip them because I like the black look too.

I love the black ones...on my black Boxster :p

I for one am glad I had the bumperettes when someone hit me from behind. The bumperettes saved my bumper from damage. |
Yes rear bumperette removal plate but I made my own. I bought a piece of black ABS plastic and made a template out of cardboard. Took it to a place that cuts glass and had them cut it for me. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1440504218.jpg

Gotta admit - looks pretty sexy with the bumperettes gone, although do worry about damage to the bumper. Those bumperettes do serve a good purpose.
Mike - ever thought of colour matching instead of leaving it black? |
Na I like the black. I agree the bumperettes are added protection but like the rear without them.
