Boxster s side panel where belt goes through.

I am just finishing up adding cruise control to my 2000 S. I took off the drivers side panel (the panel the seat belts go through).

I out it back on and didn't get in quite back in place. When I put the top back down I cracked the end of it off. It almost looks little push ty switch but there is no electrical. Below it on the part that isn't broken is a female 4 port electrical receiver.

1. Does it matter and can I just leave it.
2. What is the electrical port just below it.

I don't find anything in the repair manual.

Has anyone taken this side panel on and off?

Here is sort or a picture (E, the red arrow is poing just about where it broke.

The connector is the rear window defroster plug for the hard top (or soft top with a glass window). The broken trim won't hurt anything but the value.
