I really want Carrera Classic Wheels
Would love to put the 18" Carrera Classic Wheels on. I'm not convinced yet, but would anyone be interested in buying 18" Boxster wheels (I forget what the 987 wheels are called). I have 11,000 miles on them and NO road rash or anything else. Just throwing a line out...I need to talk to the household commander first. I may have to submit the request in triplicate for further disapproval.

Rail, maybe you can trade with Smith12895 so he won't lose anymore races against 987s with the 17"s.

I think Eslai is right. Wheelenhancement has the clearest presentation of "available" Porsche wheels I've seen.

looks like carrera III are the 18" equivalent to the carrera classics.

Chris C and Epiq Todd,
Let me price what this is going to cost and I will get in touch with you.
Smith(whats up with all the numbers?), I love the look of your 987. Mimicking is flattery right?

The numbers are my anniversary 1/28/95. When ever I need a screen name I always use the same one. That way I never half to remember which screen name I used. I'm kind of lazy . It started when we needed a email address... you know how many Smiths there are!!! had to find a unique number that was easy for us to remember.
Anyhow good luck getting/selling your wheels!! I love mine. I think they are the best looking wheels Porsche offers. Don't get me wrong... I like the 18" S wheels and the 19" S wheels, but I love the carrera classics!

The reason is that you can get 8" wide rims on the front and 9" wide rims on the rear, just as you have with your stock 18" 987 wheels. (If you want, you can swap out and use your same tires on these wheels.)
The one wrinkle is that you will need spacers on the rear wheels (15mm, IIRC), given the different offset. (As a result, your lugs won't match perfectly, since you'll still use the same stock concave lug bolts on the front, but you'll need lug nuts on the rear with the spacers. I've never seen concave lug nuts that match -- if you get the same finish, they'll be convex on the top. If you don't point this out to anyone, you'll probably be the only one that notices, because the wheels are fantastic.)
P.S. Just FYI, these wheels came out on the 2002 996, with 8" and 10" widths, and then they were made optional on the 2003 986 S, with 7.5" and 9" widths. For the 987, you can "mix and match" and use the 8" on the front and the 9" on the rear.
Tell your wife that you want these wheels because they remind you of her in her high heels.

sweet advice SoCal about the high heels! Any suggestions, though on the comeback if she says something about the exhaust pipe and the "high heels" up in the air???

I'm with you....
Rail...
I think the Carrera Classic's are the sweetest wheels of all the Boxster OEMS... I finally acquired the car of my dreams, but alas, they were outfitted with the 19" Carrera S wheels... I asked the dealer what it would cost to swap out to the Classics and off the top of his head he said $5m---ouch!! (a tad bit more than the option cost when buying new!)
Anyway...ill keep my S's --and put the extra dough into the "Rainy Day " jar!
BEst of Luck!
