Not Boxster ....but AC related

I need to replace the high side valve on my Ford Explorer...I thought I had every socket but a Morris Garage set. I had to order a socket to fit this strange valve....now the socket came in and it will not fit any ratchet I have , not 1/4 or 3/8 ??

What gives

Just a socket, upon close examination it a pears to be a error in forging or pressing for the drive opening

I just took an old 3/8 2 inch extension and tapped it in with a rubber hammer and used it that way...the valve came out easy with the 15.5mm socket
