Red Wine Stain Removal

Hey guys,

Long story here, but I was at an event with a fellow forum member in Ohio last weekend and my friend ended up falling into the interior of car and had a pretty blow out with the glass of red wine he was drinking. Fortunately the wine spill stayed off my dash and new floor mats, but it got a lot of other places in the interior. The carpet along the bulk head where the engine access panel is probably took the worst of the spill... however immediately after the spill we removed the panel and took it in to the bar at the hotel to have them hit with some club soda to minimize the staining; plus my friend was out of wine at that point.

Do any of you guys have experience removing red wine stains from car interiors? Any tricks of the trade?? I think I got most of it but I keep finding patches here and there. God that stuff went everywhere...

Thanks!

I hear good things about the product "Wine-out" That would be my 1st move.

I have always heard to pour white wine on a red wine stain. Not sure if this will work after the red wine has dried.

Use straight ammonia. It chemically converts the red stain to an easily removed gray material.

Spray it with Zep Advanced Oxy carpet and upholstery stain remover. I spiltred wine on two white chairs in my home and took the stains out.

Use wet VAC cleaner for carpet cleaning.

I'm pretty sure that 5-year-old-stain has pretty much set in by now, if they haven't removed it.

Good call there, Pipe.

You know the dude, with one post, had to have scoured the Interwebs running searches... hitting upon forums... plugging his ****************... and hoping someone clicks.

By the way... link checks out. ;)

I was thinking the same thing.

I wanted to click, but didn't have the stones to.

Was wondering if that was Frodo in the pic?

Nope, not me.
Don't know who either the OP or the "fellow forum member in Ohio" are.
I, like you, would never (!) sit on the door of someone's car—which is what I assume led to what happened here. (Though I do have to admit that the guy—in true Buster Keaton fashion—did a helluva job keeping most of the wine in the glass during his tumble!). And...while fuzzy memories tell me it has happened, I can honestly say it's been several decades since I've dumped any kind of alcoholic beverage in anyone's car ;)
