New battery in key fob now locks don't work

Gentlemen looking for some advice. Boxster Newbie
I have a 2004 Boxster Yesterday I tried the key fob to lock doors and it did not work. Was working fine up to then. Drive the car daily. Noticed the red Led was not blinking. Put in a new key battery led is blinking but no luck remotely locking or unlocking doors
With key in the door locks they work fine.
I tried the 3 turns in the door lock while activating key no luck
Have been driving it with just manually locking doors
Any idea wise ones
Cheers Grant

With my 1997 if I don't drive it for 5 days the key will not work the lock. I have to lock and then unlock the door using the key and then insert the key in the ignition and start the car within 10 seconds of unlocking and then the key fob will work again. Don't know if it will work on your year but worth a try.

I have a 98' and it came with two fobs....one stopped working, and nothing I tried worked. So, I just began using the other fob. It's pretty expensive to replace the system so I'm just using the second key fob.

If the second one ever fails then I'll just do everything manually.

My car came with 2 key fobs but one was badly worn out and buttons was not working. I ended up repairing it myself (I'm electronic engineer). You can buy buttons online and replace it, if you got some soldering skill. But even after replacing buttons on mine it never worked. I ended up desoldering battery compartment and underneath on a board located main IC (chip) which controls fob. After close look I found some of the pins on main IC (chip) are not tide to board (over time, vibrations cause the solder to separate from the board. you may not see it but you can try to bend a pin on IC a bit and you will feel if its loose. I will not recommend bend the pins!, just re-solder it). I ended up re-soldering pins and it worked! I understand this is not easy DIY, but I thought its good to shear.

My 2nd key does this - LED blinks but I would have to press it 20 times for the car to unlock. I don't want to pay $300 for a new key head with programming from the dealer.
