Rear Speaker template
Anybody have template for the rear speaker mounts that fit in the storage areas behind the seats?
TIA |
There is a thread on the forum with the template, you can even download a PDF for it.

Like EJ said, you will have to do a search
I made a template for doing the dash speakers without destroying the factory speakers. Look in the DIY section and there is a link for it. If you have it in your budget, I strongly suggest you just buy the kit on ebay. It includes everything you need, mounting plate, speakers, grill and the wiring harness. I looked at making the mounting plate and getting my own speakers, etc and by the time I was done, the kit was not that much more and it will save you a lot of time and energy. I went with the kit and it is amazing the difference the rear speakers make |
+1
If you add the prices of the parts separately, you'll barely save $20 to $30. You're better off buying the set out of ebay... |
Here is a thread to get you going, but like the others said, buying the kit or just the speaker brakets(that's what i did), is well worth it. The brackets are excellent quality and fit the rear shelf speaker box perfectly.

One other thing is the speaker kit has 2 speakers in each side so you get left and right channels behind each seat. Works like a champ for stereo.
The template has only 1 speaker, you won't get good stereo sound with 1 speaker behind each seat. I suppose you could squeeze in 2, but with a Masonite mounting plate, it won't be very strong with very little between the speakers |
And the kit comes with Pioneer 3.5" speakers, which I assume are better than the 2.5" stock speakers...
|
I got a line on some rear speakers but theyre stock, both sides including the mount, speakers and covers for $100. Is it worth that? I see the ebay kit has the Pioneer speakers and its $300. I have an aftermarket double din but otherwise its a stock "premium" sound system (non Bose obviously).

does it include the wiring harness? are the speakers blown? You kind of have to listen to them to find out |

Mine is the one piece sub box with 2 subs and 2 tweets.
Glad to trace or measure it. It's a Bose unit that locks down to those 2 studs. Takes up all that area behind the seats but sounds great. Nice deep bass. |

Porsche doers generally no include wiring for options that were not there when the car was built. This included things like relays, door speaker connections, etc. Unless the car had the rear speakers at one time, it is unlikely the wiring is there |
Like JayG is saying, I think the seller is speaking about the short piece of harness coming out of the speaker box. You will have to buy the long harness to connect either to the HU (pre 2003) or the amp (post 2003). You can get that cable from EuroMotorsport on Ebay for $75.

I have an 04 and no amp |
Oh right, sorry... I think you must have the M490 option code to have the amp.
