Water pump gasket and bolts?

I have done much research and cannot find any info on these gaskets. Is there a need to use any sealant on the gasket or the bolts when installing?Going to change mine tomorrow.

Agreed. Just completed the job. The gasket part number is 996.106.340.54; $8.88 at Sunset Porsche. There is some trimming required but it is well described in the DIY threads.

I reused the same bolt and have not read that there is a need to replace them.

I got the metal gasket. When I replaced the water pump on my truck instructions said to use a small amount of sealant on the bolts.I was curious about the Boxster bolts. Thanks for the quick replies.

The bolts that go around the pump are of differing lengths - I built a card board stencil to put the bolts in as I pulled them out - You will need a knuckle socket to one to the bolts.
Don't over torque - They don't take much.
Pinch the hose coming in and plug with rag.

Indeed. Sometimes they don't even take the 7.5 ft-lbs the spec calls for. That crankcase is silver peanut butter. I had to pull mine back off and do two helicoils.

I made the mistake of not paying attention to the different bolts around the pump. Post #4 in this thread shows where the two longer bolts are supposed to go.
