Quick thanks to the board (Particlewave)
Want to say a quick thanks to this board. Every time I have had an issue/question, this board has had the answer. Yesterday JayG gave me the place to get instructions for cleaning a switch. The instructions on Pelican, and sure enough was able to clean the switch today. I am not a mechanic, nor have I really messed with my own cars in the past. This forum has helped save me thousands of dollars in simple repairs. I have not had the major repairs that some here have. Spent maybe $1,000 since purchase. That includes two new tires for the rear ($460) that I spent yesterday.
Brakes will be coming up soon I am sure, so I will be searching again! 84,000 miles, and still can't wipe the grin off my face. |

When it comes time to do brakes, the best guide I have seen is on boxsterregister.org, it is extremely detailed.

Yes lots of very helpful people on this forum, much better than some of the other forums around. Every now and then a thread goes off the rails, but that is by far the exception.
Brakes are REALLY easy to do. Takes longer to put the car on jack stands and take off the tires than to actually change the pads Buy a Motive Power Bleeder, its well worth the money. It will more than pay for its self in what you save over having a shop do the pads. Lots of DIY instructions on this and other forums |

I get a kick out of seeing people do their own fixes successfully and that is plenty thanks for me. As Jay said, brakes are very easily done. I did mine today in only about 1.5 hours. The hardest part was taking the wheels off, but even that is no trouble. ;) |
Great board. Has made being my own mechanic possible. I'm always glad to help out if it's an issue I've had or a fix I've done. Glad to see others make those same fixes.

Tons of great people on this board! I was a member before I was an owner!! That helped me get a decent car. Used your help to do my water pump and over flow. Installed an aftermarket radio and Nexus 7 in the dash, using help from you good folks.
Car is in getting a clutch, IMS and RMS right now. I wasn't brave enough to take on that job. |
