Help Frankensteining One Good Key from Two?

Car: 2002 Boxster (2nd owner)

I suddenly find myself in a precarious position of having two keys, each with partial functionality. My question to the board based on the following detail, is it possible to mix-and-match pieces to get a fully functioning key? The more reasonable part of me is thinking I'm best not screwing with it and accepting that I have one good working key and to get myself to the dealer to reprogram a couple good keys before it's a REAL problem.

Key 1:
Engine: won't turn it over (new issue, detail below)
Remote unlock: will pop both trunks

Key 2:
Engine: will start car
Remote unlock: won't unlock anything.
Even with fresh battery in FOB, key lights up, but the red "signal received" light on dash doesn't blink

Detail: Button-to-circuit module to remotely unlock doors on circuit board sheared right off on Key 1 (presumably from over use/13 years of love) and now the engine won't start. I'm assuming there's something in the security protocol that checks the "health" of the key that is now keeping it from starting the car? Admittedly, I freaked because key 2 has never been in sync with the car since I bought it from its first owner and I didn't even think it would turn over the engine. Fortunately a quick test proved that misconception wrong.

the keys have a small "Pill" that is the transponder for the immobilizer
The circuit board is for remote unlock, frunk and trunk release

You can swap components from key to key to make 1 good one form the 2 semi good ones

If you do a search, you should find many threads
Searching before you ask a question is a good idea

1 prevents duplicate threads
2 you may learn stuff
3 prevents duplicate threads
4 your question will be answered
5 prevents duplicate threads

Thanks for the tip, JayG. Totally hear you on searching the forums first. I tried a LOT of boolean searches on Google and couldn't find a thread that answer I needed. Appreciate you taking the time.

Yes. Take the good circuit board and put it in the key that starts the car (the key that doesn't start it is missing the transponder pill). ;)
