Weird - Need an Assist
OK. I'm new to the forum and just purchased a 04 Boxster S Anniversary w/ 32K miles. I've been around cars all my life and have advanced mechanical skills. I am new to the Porsche scene. This car is a garage queen and is extremely clean. I changed the oil last weekend and cut the filter - perfect. I have an appointment to get the IMS Solution at a local Porsche expert (Kraftworks) in several weeks. Today pulled the engine cover and discovered the air box takes a round ? (2005+) filter. Oh crap... I purchased the 2004 because I could replace the IMS with a permanent fix and I factored that into the purchase price. So I pulled the engine serial number and my engine is a 2004 based on the serial #.
Has anyone ever seen a 2004 with a round (2005+) air filter housing? Am I thinking too much on this one? My engine #M96/2467405027 Thoughts? |
Yes. Our cars have the bigger throttle body and the 987 filter / air box.
550 baby! And it's a single row bearing in yours. http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/a...psaugy287r.jpg |
Sweet! Appreciate the quick reply. I thought I did all my homework, this one surprised me. Looking forward to learning more about this Roadster. Mine is 693 of 1953. PCA Northern Ohio

So now I'm confused. I just did a Kram mod to 996 TB which is bigger than my 02-S. I thought 03-04 still had the same size as the older 01-02 TB. Kram36 has a 03-S Tip. Thought the only difference with 04-S was the 987 intake and maybe a DME 7.8 tune.
