A warm wind blows.....everywhere
A HVAC question....my 01S has very cold and very warm air...depending on where you set the temp. However no matter which outlet you pick (Windshield, dash or floor) they all blow the same....I want to fix this before winter. I have read about the "cheese grater" flap that is used as a diverter and the insulation falls off.....but this sounds like a different problem and I have not found much on this ?
THanks in advance Dwight |
Yep. There are several diverters (3, I think) and all have the same issue. 1 diverter is for hot/cold, another for the seperate duct work for defrost, floor, and vent. That second one is your problem and not easy to get to. I'll have a look at the diagrams and point it out for you. ;)

If I have to dig into it to fix it (and I have to have everything working right) I want to do it before it gets cold....15 year old interiors are brittle and less forgiving in the winter....thanks for the help

Yes, I agree it's a different problem than the insulation issue. I recently had the insulation fall off of my flap doors and it caused the air and heat to mix resulting in warm A/C.

There are 4 flaps total. PM sent ;)

My undedstanding is there are two ways to do it. Meir has a fantastic write up step by step on how to do it the right way but it involves taking out most of the. Dash. Theres anither method where yiu cut into the evap cover IIRC that is much quicker but not as elegant
