another coolant leak thread

just realized after a good drive there is a very small puddle of coolant near the rear passenger wheel, looks like it might have come from what looks like an overflow tube......my cap has never been updated ( its a 2000)....is there a chance this may be the culprit before i start thinking of possible cracked tank?

i did a search but could differentiate the trouble shooting between a bad cap and a cracked tank.

From what I recall the cracked tank frequently cause a puddle of coolant in the trunk underneath the carpet. My bad cap was leaving condensate on the trunk lid right about the cap.

Could be relief valve or weep hole in WP. Do a visual check of WP for any drips or leakage signs. It can leak slowly for a while before it leaves a puddle.

Dude. Pulling the trunk carpet is fifteen mins max and it will be abundantly obvious if the coolant tank is cracked.

By the way, you have (had) two of my bucket list cars. Hand them over.

Right, pull the carpet and check. Be sure to pull up the particle board and stuff under the carpet too. If there is a puddle in the trunk then you are almost guaranteed a cracked tank.

buy yourself a spring clamp tool and follow the DIYs here. Take your time. I just did this a couple weeks ago, if I can do it then anyone can.
