I find that those that aren't Porsche buffs often think the car is virtually new (I have a 2000).

That's one good thing about Porsche designs having strong similarities and the main design cues really never changing.

And the 986 shows it's age considerably versus a 987 but still I get people thinking my car is only a few years old.

Funny, I got a lot more comments when I had the Seal Grey. Now that I have the Lapis Blue, I don't get nearly as many.

Guy outside StarBuck's---- "Dude, is that a Lamborghini?"

I had a neighbor from down the street and his brother walk over, and fuss over the car. That felt great. Then the brother who I hardly know at all, asked if he could drive it. Good feelings gone!! :)

I've lost count how many times an older guy will come up to me at a gas station and say I have the dream car they were never able to buy. Makes you laugh at all the snobs who will say "meh...just a Boxster".

When I drove the car home the first time, top down of course, two neighbors (middle-aged guys) started running after me to see the car. It had just been detailed by the dealership and it glistened!

One guy went and told his wife he wanted one. (Wife wouldn't let him get a roadster, got a BMW sedan instead.) The other guy wasn't able to talk his wife into any new car. But he does drive an Infiniti G37.

A couple of months later my next-door neighbor comes home with a BMW convertible (sedan). She tells me she had to get a convertible after seeing mine!

Yea, but she got a BMW, not a Porsche!

Stopped at the dollar store to get a couple bottles of water before picking my son up from band practice last night and a mom with her two Jr. High and Elementary school daughters commented on the cute little car and love your convertible. :) The mom just let out a ever so slight smile and kept on walking. haha

Dropped off my 6-year old to school this morning in the Box with the top down. The smiles and "wows!" from the teachers and other parents dropping their kids off while looking at us were priceless.

Getting out of highschool where everyone wants to be better than everyone else and taking some college dual credit courses has lead to many many compliments.

There are some cool cars at tech like mustangs and fiesta sts but the boxster is the most unique car in the very large parking lot as far as I can tell.

See if you can spot it haha!

I got a spot today right at the bottom of the first flight of stairs so most everyone had to pass the box. People are less insecure at tech and far more open to complimenting one another, I get compliments on my car daily and return the favor whenever I spot someone driving something else interesting.

However what's worth a thousand words arnt the compliments from other young guys, it's the smiles from the young girls [emoji41]

I was at the gas station filling up the Boxster today and this nice looking woman walked over and said "you have a very nice car" Before I could say thank you, the yahoo on the other side of the pump with his raised 2wd pickup (yes, not a 4x4!)and hat backwards said "Yes, I do have a really nice truck, want to go for a ride?".

She turned to him and said " I was speaking to the guy with the nice Porsche not you Jethro" turned and smiled at me. I smiled back and shook my head in wonder.

Finished filling it up, got in, drove off and and laughed
