918 clocked at 350km/hr on Australian road
There is a 200km (125 miles) stretch of highway in Australia's Northern Territory that has no speed restrictions - you can drive as fast as you dare without fear of cops springing out and carting you off to instant penal servitude for the term of your natural life.
Below is a Porsche promo showing a standard 918 clocking 350 km/hr - luckily not meeting any of the local wildlife such as the odd camel, buffalo or bovine let alone an 18 wheel Mack truck + bogy..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=M68VE61mTyY I'm pleased I wasn't travelling in the opposite direction when the 918 came through - the backwash would have probably thrown me into the scrub backwards. |
1...We need that in English, please. MPH, thanks.
2...Sure he wasn't on fire in the middle of the desert speeding towards water?? |
Just a little over 217 mph Timco.

Was that a "low tire pressure" indicator lit up to the lower left of the speedometer??
|
Yep, that pretty well epitomizes the pucker factor...

Damn, that is crazy fast on a public road (any public road).
If anything happened at that speed, you'd never survive. Cool video, but too risky for me. No thanks. :) |
Big cojones for sure.
They must have had a sweep vehicle up front as the amount of road kill on these roads is sobering - and I'm not talking about some small mammal or reptile either. Even the scavenging hawks and ravens are big enough to go through the windscreen at the posted speed limit (130km/hr / 85mph), heaven knows what damage a 5lb flying bird would do at over 200mph - there are hundreds of raptors feasting on the carcasses. I don't think there is a town or fuel stop on that section of the road either - so you are a long way from nowhere... |
