GPS and Center Stack Mod's

Hello.

I may be buying a 2000 Boxster S, six speed and had a few questions.

This car has the climate controls up high, then the radio, then two open compartments.

It seems like later cars have these items in different locations. Are they easily moved?

Has anyone done a retrofit GPS or added an aftermarket GPS to their Boxster?

Thank you.

I've seen video of an aftermarket GPS retrofit. But the screens pop out and up so it covers over the climate controls. Just be aware of that for the alpines and pioneers. I've yet to see the PCM retrofitted into a 2000, but thats not to say that it can't be done. It just depends on the climate controls I think.

good luck

Thanks. Seems like the two open compartments were large enough to accommodate the climate controls and radio down low, so GPS could be up high.

I"ve read somewhere that there has to be a way to get the GPS to work correctly with a 'unwired' car. So you might want to check into it.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

You can always add a PDA that had GPS which is great for road or personal use? I find it's a great product and it holds so much info and mp3's as well!

Some 2001 and 2002 have cupholders where the a/c display is, on the car you are looking at. They are not good and some people have removed them and relocated the a/c display back up. I called this a 'cuperholderectomy' when I did it on a 2001 2 years ago.

There is an aftermarket GPS you can use so that the antenna is hidden where the antenna is on a car with PCM. Jeff
