A Gremlin in my Boxster

I seam to have a Gremlin inside my Boxster, not a real bad one but one all the same. When I arm and disarm my system almost everything works. The lights flash, the car locks or un-locks like it should but the horn only beeps sometimes.
Like I said, its not bad but it bugs me that it doesn't work all the time.

Check your center console lid. If it is not closed all the way the horn will beep.

Yeah, like Tommy said. It should not beep.
A beep indicates that something is not right in the central lock system (usually center console lid is not latched all the way).

My car beeps all the time and I don't know why. I recently found out that the gas cap cover can cause this if not latched correctly. And the latch is completely broken on my car.

Thanks guys, I thought it should beep when locking and un-locking.

Every other car I have ever owned this was how you could tell it was armed. But in Porsche land its the opposite who could possibly want to know their pride and joy has the alarm activated by a simple beep instead of having to watch to make sure the lights flash.

Mine used to beep all the time as my center console latch was broken. Since I fixed that, it never beeped, I've wondered why, now I know why. Thanks @tommy583

So it's not supposed to beep unless there's a fault. Interesting, I just figured one of the previous owners disabled the beep.

Lots of guys on Mercedes forums want their car to beep like their Chebbie, too.

This despite the fact the locks make a big clunk which ought to be enough. Granted on a Boxster there are only two and they're pretty quiet. To me beeping horns are antisocial.
