Exhaust Sytems-(Ebay)

I see many systems such as this:

Porsche Boxster 97 04 Base S Full Stainless Axle Back Exhaust System | eBay

They seem to be a dime a dozen. Can anyone help source a Canadian distributor that would sell for a similar price, Try to avoid the duty etc.

I also have this exhaust. Proven to add a few hp at the high rpms. Spec Boxster Exhaust Install

Catalytic convertor delete pipes are straight pipes that allow the removal of the second set of catalytic convertors (on later Boxster's that have two sets).

Earlier Boxster's only have one set of cat's so they cannot be deleted and still pass smog testing.

I have this one also. Can't be beat for the price. It causes a bit of a drone throughout the car at highway speed. That's why the cat delete pipes are an important addition.

I have one that I took off of my car. I will sell it for $100 plus shipping. It sounded like a high horse 911 under acceleration, but does have a pretty good drone at highway speed with the top up.

brjak,

I've had one of those Ebay special mufflers on my car for a few years now.

There is a drone, but I've gotten used to it.

The two great benefits of putting one on your car in my opinion:
a) A great reduction in weight vs. the OEM muffler
b) The rear trunk no longer heats up enough to cook your dinner in it:-)

I also like the dual exhaust tips.

Plus it is very easy to install.

Just my two cents

What year is your car and how long was it on there?

Put that exhaust on my Boxster and almost immediately regretted it because of the drone. Real bad. Three years and thousands of miles later it is my favorite upgrade. Each time you start your car the car's computer adjusts slightly and now I get nothing but compliments. Drone is almost unnoticeable now and as has been said it weighs a ton less than the stock muffler. Get it and give it time and i don't mean a couple of months.

I agree, you have to be patient. Adding the cat delete pipes and easy seal clamps help also. I have had mine over two years now and still love the sound with no noticeable drone.

You don't have to, I didn't, but it would be easier with the bumper off.

I installed with the Bumper on. You may have to shim the mount on the Transmission to get the fit correct. I used washers between bracket and Trans. Cat delete pipes and strap clamps are the way to go. I love the sound, little drone. Hey it's a Sports Car it should be a little loud!

Totally concur with Bruce, easy clamps are a must and you will not have noticeable drone. In fact you will totally love the sounds your car makes, both accelerating and decelerating. Go for it, you won't regret it, the people that are getting a drone have missed something (most likely proper clamping) during installation.

I just ordered mine. It's less than $300 shipped and I get rid of the offensive single exhaust port that my wife thinks looks like a b-hole.

AND it won't get quite as hot in the trunk? AND it will sound pretty good? Oh man. Done and done!

Hey Guys, my computer hard drive took a dump. I am doing this from a friends computer. I will have my computer back tomorrow and will post some pics. I had the exhaust on my 1997 Boxster with a 2.5 for a few months. Thanks for your patience. Bob

Does anyone happen to have a video of the way this sounds on a base model 986?
