I recently bought a 06 Cayman S I kept my base boxster but I wanted to get an idea of the Caymans performance and the higher HP. IMO you cant get a real feel for a car with a few test drives. I will keep the Cayman for a year or so then sell it and buy a 09-14 Boxster S. I find I miss the top down experience of the boxster to much.

Left field opinion: Save your money and go with a 1996 993 air cooled base 911 and watch it increase in value every year, or spend about the same amount of money on any Porsche after mid 2009 to get the IMS free motor.

Why do you want it in the first place? How will it be used? How long will you keep it?

This can only be answered by you by test driving both back to back and see which you prefer.

I'm pretty much with Randall;

If you want a 911, get an early 997 or a 993.

If you want a Cayman, get a 2010 without an IMSB.
