Aftermarket universal intake hose 98 Boxster

A friend of mine is giving me one of those aftermarket made in China universal intake hoses. We are thinking about putting it in my 98 Boxster just for kids and giggles. Should I wrap it with adhesive heat barrier to avoid overheating the hose? I am not familiar with the amount of heat the hoses are exposed to.

I will say if you are going to remove the intake hose just remove the intake exhaust and the other little tube on the intake. I just removed the exhaust and that extra tube and plugged them up and there is definitely a louder intake sound over 4k. Sounds awesome. I would almost worry about if the new tube is too large or too small for stock airflow. Your MAF readings could get squirrelly.

Thank you for the feedback.
