You shouldn't be happy, that should be standard on all 986/996.
So FY Ferdinand Porsche who give us nightmares about IMS.....;)

if you still have the oil, send a sample to your local CAT dealer for analysis

Pdwight 05-16-2015 10:20 AM

I do ....but

The oil pan it ran into has been used for everything...one of those that traps the oil and you pour it out....no telling what is in the crevices and bottom. I need to actually find a new oil pan....this one almost runs over as the oil is draining from my Boxster

EJ-Fresno 05-16-2015 10:43 AM

Pdwight, can you please give us the part number for the magnetic drain plug?
Thanks!

Cheap early warning system

EJ-Fresno 05-16-2015 11:18 AM

Yes, makes totally sense. Will order one and install at my next oil change.

husker boxster 05-16-2015 11:21 AM

Isn't that a metal flake at 9 o'clock?

husker boxster 05-16-2015 11:22 AM

Ha, ha. Made you look. :p

And no mention of or questioning oil weight or brand?????

Just do what my dad did when I was a kid. Dig a hole and pour the oil in and it magically vanishes back into the oil reserves.

JayG 05-16-2015 05:59 PM

Looks like a good deal, the L&N magnetic drain plug is a lot more $. Also, I like the hex head rather than a hex key

Pdwight 05-16-2015 07:07 PM

Sorry

This is my 3rd oil change in 2 years, always Mobil 1 European formula

As for the Hex Key it is 8mm and I have never had a problem...19 foot pounds with my torque wrench and no leaks (new washer every time)

I kinda like this one
