parking brake light doesn't come on
 

I tried to lower my top after a battery replacement and now the parking brake light won't come on and when I push the lever for the top to unhook, the windows go down but the top down light on the dash doesn't come on either. Is there a trick to get the parking brake light to come on or is there a switch that needs to be replaced? Any help???

Check the wire that is connected to the hand brake
