rubber rest stops for convertible top

I have a newly acquired 1997 and the rest stops for the top (behind the rollbar) are both in different positions and I am not sure which one is correct, the left one is out of sight when the top is down (I suspect this is the correct position) the other on the right kind of points up above the edge of the top, this one seems to impair the top going completely down on this side by about a quarter of an inch or so which leaves the clamshell not quite flush on that side. I would like to know if you know which is correct and if those stops just pull out and can be switched positions. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.
