I love that show, especially the part where Ed the mechanic's labor is free .

The guy who sold them the car in the first place wasn't very bright, he could have paid an hours labor to fugure out his transmission wasn't bad but instead he practically gives his car away.

I've watched that one on YouTube a couple of times.
Agreed about the seller. My first thought was: Who wouldn't at least have that checked out first?
Fun episode, either way.

Fun show to watch but even with the free labor I am often surprised at the fairly low profits they make on the cars. I think this is mostly caused by Mike Brewer paying too much for the car to start.

Entertaining show. I like some of the obscure cars they work on. The Boxster episode was fun to watch but they should have used Fred's HID's to retrofit the headlights

I was thinking the same, Bruce

First time I've seen the episode. They stole that thing!

I thought it very funny that Ed was saying what great shape the car was in apart from that transmission issue. He didn't check any of the normal things that go wrong with our cars.

I figure it's because they do a thorough PPI before they even start the camera. They probably know what the "profit" is going to be before they make an offer.

I still really enjoy the show though.

I think I've been watching the show too much. When I finish a project on my car, I tell my wife that I'm "chuffed" or that the car is now in "good nick". I also noticed that when they buy U.S. manufactured car that they will have trouble controlling their smirks when they say things like "Let's have a look under the hood."

Maybe Fred knows if his "bit of kit" would be legal in the UK. One piece of information I've gleaned from the show is that they have a strict "MOT" or vehicle inspection system. I think that in the UK you may need the self-leveling function and the headlight washers that came with the factory litronic/HID headlights due to a concern for affecting the vision of on-coming drivers.
