986 top doesn't drop, replaced microswitch and checked fuses.
Windows don't drop, clamshell doesn't move. Checked fuses, removed and reinserted relay, replaced microswitch for the latch receptacle, and the e-brake light does come on. I've tried being a little rough with the e-brake as well, and manually trigger microswitch to no avail.
ideas? I don't even mind having to manually move it, I'd just like to get the clamshell open for servicing and sunny days. |
Haha I also saw your post on Reddit. Small world. Maybe some porsche gurus here can chime in and help you out.

Here's to hoping. Top hasn't worked for a month so I posted everywhere I could lol

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried checking the information that can be found on RennTech and Mike Focke's pages? A guy named Maurice has written some good info on the soft tops.

Yep, I have cross posted on Reddit and Renntech, as well as combed through every thread. No car has the same issues as mine does, go figure. Only thing I can think of is that I got a faulty microswitch, but that just doesn't seem likely - the old one really didn't seem to have any issues when I took it out. There was another module in the overhead light area though, but I think that was the alarm? |

EDIT: Instructions from forum member TheStone "To get to the top microswitch, remove the two alarm covers (black plastic ovals) from the center windshield cover - they wll just kind of pop out with your fingernail or a very small screwdriver. Then use a Torx bit to take out the two screws. This will allow the center cover to drop down. There will be three wire bundles - one for the courtesey light, one for the alarm module, and one for the top microswitch. Remove each of them by pressing the clips and pulling. The microswitch is a black module with two silver bars across it and the pressure switch for the latch is underneath. Just use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the retaining clips off while rotating them back and forth; be careful and they can be reused for the new microswitch. " |
I'm in the same situation
