Insulation blowing out from vents
 

Over the past few years, I've experienced small pieces of black foam insulation flying out of the heating/AC vents (floor and dash board) when I have the blower on (typically on high).

I assume that my 98' (with 72M miles) is just showing it's age. The heat and AC work great and the small pieces of insulation coming out and landing on the floor, or blowing towards me from a vent is no big deal. Since I'm not inclind to tear apart the entire system I just deal with the few pieces that work their way out from time to time.....UNLESS someone tells me to be more concerend

As long as you got heat and ac you are fine. There is a fix to it if you start having problems not getting enough heat or AC. Besides that it is ok. I think all of the older models do this.

I have same problem no on big deal mine is a 1997 love it!!

My 2001 does the same thing.
I still have AC and don't really care about heat down here in FL.
(although I have no reason to assume the heat isn't working.....)

That also occurs in my car too. I just pull it through the vent with needle nose pliers.

Good to know its part of the "aging process", LOL....I keep a pair of surgical forceps in the car and pull out the pieces through the vent vouvers that don't blow out on their own.

Just about the time I'm convinced it has finished puking foam, another few pcs will show up. It's rather comical actually......

Same here. Heat and AC are fine, but I got a little dusting of black foam again last week.

Same here with my 2000. I was able to remove most of it by opening one vent at a time, turning the A/C blower on HIGH and placing the brush attachment of my shop vac against the open vent.

i dared put the fan on full blast.. it was snowing dark brown pieces of crap!
bad part is some of the big pieces land on the carped and when someone steps on them they kinda stain the carpet and it looks like someone brought in dog poop :D

It hurts if it gets in your eyes. I have data.

It wasn't a big deal in my first Boxster with the black interior, but the foam pieces disintegrate into a fine black powder that turns into a very hard to remove big black smudge on the Savannah Beige interior on my 996.

My '99 daily driver has tons of dry black foam clogging the vents and raining on the carpet. I really need to clean that out. AC and heat still strong though.

Same issue on mine.
