My first oil change on my Boxster
So with all the posts on the IMS issue and that fact that I just bought it two weeks ago I got everything together and changed the oil on the old girl.
I took the filter apart and took a magnet to it to check for metal flacks. No metal but I did find some black plastic in the filter...do I need to worry? |
I am by no means an expert, but this could be stringers from a gasket or "bumpers" for the timing chains....sorry for poor nomenclature
|
Its my first Porsche, is this bad?
|
No worry. Hard plastic black or brown bits are chain tensioner material. Crème or brown colored rubbery bits are left over sealant. A small amount of either is normal.
If you see this, then you need to worry (a lot); http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...ps112ad98b.jpg |
Thanks thstone. That even looks bad...
