They were both vacuum filled the first tank had a leak near the overflow hose and the second one seems to come from the breather valve not quite sure as of yet.

I broke my (usual) cardinal rule and bought from the local dealer. Didn't want to do this job more than once. Normally I source parts from the US.

Actually I did have to pull it out twice, now that I think about it.

I bought a replacement level sensor so I wouldn't have to go back and replace that later, as that requires pulling the tank. Of course, the new sensor was faulty.

But what about the cap? If your old cap was worn and could not hold the required pressure, perhaps air was still in the system and caused your issues. This commonly occurs when the old tank from factory is flushed and the revised cap is not installed, the plastic goes from hairline crack to spilling all of the coolant on the road. Risky.
You also run the risk of having one of those air pockets get hot and it crack the head. Milkshake time... all because of a little $20 piece of round plastic.
