Way past time to say Hi..

Ok so I previously posted an intro in the wrong area re Black boxster thread. Long time Porsche owner. My first car was a 69 911T. This is my first water cooled Porsche. Bought while looking for next 911. Big mistake. Top down and a twisty road and no other car makes you smile like this does. Pure joy to drive. So a picture and a list of the current upkeep. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1429487143.jpg

Very nice car! (and I am partial to black Boxster's!)

Have you been doing the work yourself or having a shop do it?

Where in CA are you?

Thanks! Enjoy your track time videos! Black is a great color on these cars, It was the only color I would have considered, but now I could possibly be tempted by a 03 or 04 Midnight Blue S!! Camel interior! Yes I do my own work, I did have the top installed though. Shop gave me a great price on installation. Although now when I am gliding through the corkscrews there is a broken screw or piece of rivet rolling through the top brace!! Reminds me why I twist my own wrenches.

JayG ; I am in God's country for Boxsters, the Central Coast. Sunshine, trees and 360 degrees of windy mountain roads.

Hey Kram; Cool story on those wheels, I had the 16" split spokes. Research told me the 18" super lights were what I wanted. Okay Cheap here is acceptable...I found on CL 4 for $500.00. 3 were perfect but one front was badly repaired, patience and I found one on eBay for $165.00. Still reasonable for what are now 4 almost flawless wheels. BONUS had back half machined off the repaired wheel and turning into a wall clock. I think it's Awesome....Wifey says it'll probably only make garage status.

Great deal you got. I bet the handling is much better too.

The Michelin Super sports are like glue, and believe it or not smoother ride. Of course the 16" wheels were date code '10.

KRAM36 04-19-2015 08:41 PM

Nice. My Boxster originally came with those wheels, but somewhere along the line before I bought the car someone swiped them and stuck the Cup wheels on it.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires! Oh ya! http://forums.evga.com/upfiles/smiley/thumbup1.gif

Hmmmm.. I like the wheels so well that I would put the 16" back on car to sell and keep these for that Midnight Blue car.....Just in case it didn't have them.

Welcome and great choice! I picked up my nearly flawless Sport Classic II's for a steal off of eBay. No bad ones but I love the wheel for a clock idea! I have some garage only clocks too:cheers:

black car eh... are you well acquainted with the orbital buffer and the Menzerna line of fine products?
I once had a black car too... forced me to become an amateur detailing expert.

911monty 04-20-2015 07:44 AM

No, tell me more.....Haven't used power tools and wax on her yet! :o
I've been using Meguairs Ultimate each time I wash the car. I've been thinking of using some of the "black car" polishes but have no experience. The front bumper cover does have chips from previous owner. I tend to stay off the freeway. There are just too many much more enjoyable routes around here!

Holy crap!!! I went to Menzerna's site. I can see how that would make you an expert. My Head nearly exploded!

Go onto YouTube and check out all of Larry's videos. He's a pro that drives a black 964 now. I wish there was a YouTube when I had a black car... would have saved me months of trial and error. Once you get your tools (Orbital buffer) and polishing products, remember less product is good, too much product will not buff out and allow for the swirls to come out.

The photo you posted of your car looked like the Sun was reflecting swirls, in the video below you'll see Larry uses the Brinkman light to inspect for the same.
