Based on what other folks here are saying, I guess its weird that I DON'T get weird comments.

Just compliments and envious staring.

I once told a coworker what I paid for my 14 year old Boxster and he refused to believe the price and how old it was. "Yaa...right!" is the response I got.

Sometimes I look at it myself and think the same thing

So now I go along with the perceived cost and elitism attitude that people assume and enjoy the ride with a big smile.

Dumbest comment I've gotten was at a Toyota dealer. Friend wanted to stop by to check out the FR-S (killing time), and the general manager asks if we came in the Miata. Only other car out front was a 370Z. Yeah sure, "20 years in the business" and you can't tell the difference between a Miata and a Boxster? Or was it some sort of slight since two guys came up in a roadster?

Funniest was when I took dad's 964 out. It's a '91 C2 Targa in Guards Red. At a stoplight, I hear a little voice "Mommy, look at that ugly car! Isn't that red car ugly, mommy?" I was in the only red car at the light. I glanced over at the mother, she looked embarrassed.

I had an old lady ask me if it was a Maserati. But my favorite by far was some kid yelling out the window of his rusted out Neon "Boxsters SUCK!!!!". Mind you I was parked at a store over 100 feet from the road and could hear him plan as day. Good set of lungs on that boy lol.

Some homeless guys can be pretty funny. I saw one sitting on the sidewalk a while back with his hat out in front of him. He was holding a hand-printed cardboard sign that said "Need money for a new spaceship"

I never give those guys money, but I tossed him a dollar.

I was driving in the parking lot at Staples rushing in before closing and two teen age kids dressed like One Direction ran after me screaming "wait...Wait... Please give us a ride in you Porsche".

I couldn't hear them at first and thought they were flagging me down because they were having medical issues. The one kid said "please let me have a ride I've never been in a Porsche". I thought this was some kind of hidden camera YouTube prank.

See, when you have a Porsche you don't need to offer them candy!

It was years ago, but a guy in a beat up Chevy van with paint splatter all over the back bumper came up while I was filling up with gas and asked me if I wanted to trade vehicles.

I commented that he could make a living with his van and not my car, and if he agreed to swap maintenance and repair costs along with the vehicles I'd probably take him up on the offer!

He paused and said, "I think I'll keep my van"

I remember that when I was little I thought that 911s were very very ugly. The carrera gt was a dream car (shows my age) but other Porsche's never looked good to me (I liked BMW z roadsters! Particularly z8.)

However, I saw a boxster for the first time really at a gas station when I was about 11. I thought it was the coolest car in the world.

I quite like 911s now but the over imaginative mind of a child much prefers a Lamborghini.

I totally forgot about this one. I was at Home Depot last year exchanging a propoane tank and I had the frunk open.

A guy started walking toward me and said excuse me. I've taken the boxster for tank exchanges before and I was sure that this was finally going to be the time that someone asked me if it ran on propane.

Instead he asked if he could take a look at the engine because he's a mechanic and loves checking out porsche engines. He look at me like I was from another planet when I told him that I'd have to put the top in service mode to remove the cover. Then I had to explain what a mid engine was. I should have asked what shop he worked for...
