Hi All,

Just got done with de ambering my headlights, followed the advise on the forum and bought a Dremel and did the sandpaper from 100 into 500 and finished with 1500 then rubbing paste. Took a full day (6 hours) to get both done but I was very slow. I'm really pleased with the result and the whole job cost me $70.

Still looks a bit Amber or is that just the picture? I would have taken it a bit deeper if possible, but it is a great improvement

Yes pic is a little amber, in the fresh it's clear. I went so deep there was nothing but clear lens....

To get rid of the gold look you need to split the headlights and spray the internal reflector black, well worth the extra effort. Particalwave has a guide somewhere on here

I think the amber looks Better than the clear. But different strokes I guess.

Great job. IMHO, the amber dates the car. But, as gmboxster said, some like the amber.

Looks great, good work. While I don't mind the Amber, the clear gives a cleaner, more modern look.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, how challenging was this? I've heard of people burning their lenses or punching holes.....

It was a bit of a pain and took longer than I expected. But the main advise I read on the forum was take it slow.......and I did. I really don't think the amber suits the car and as others have said makes it look dated.

If you have a free day it's worth in time investment.

The remaining orange tint is either the inner gold shroud, an amber bulb or a fine layer of amber plastic left over.
If you don't want to disassemble to paint the gold shroud black, some very light tint spray (or film?) carefully applied to the turn signal only would help match them up to the corner trims and lose that remaining orange tinge. ;)
