wheel width
i know we had lots of threads about 18 and 19 inches wheels but looking at a nice set of oz wheels today i was wandering how wide is the maximum recommended rear and front wheel/tyres sizes or is it preferable to stick with the original wheels width and add spacers?

10.5" is probably maximum, but in any case the trick is not width, it's offset. You need to be sure you are buying wheels that will fit, and use an offset calculator to help if you need it. A 7.5 inch wheel might not even work if the offsets are wrong, and a 10.5" might be just fine. All custom made wheels will work, as they make them to fit your vehicle, but they aren't cheap, either.
