Please help: 2001 Boxster S engine tapping

I need help. 2001 Boxster S, 42,000 miles, ran great in Florida, no issues. Moved to Kentucky recently, had the car transported by trucking company. Has been in the 20s/30s in the am here. Picked up car from shipping guy last Thursday, ran great on the way home. (about 5 miles) Hadn't started car for 6 days (car is garaged). Started car today and sounds as if I have a lifter tapping. Shut off car, checked oil. Full upon leaving FL, now about 3 qts low...Added Mobil 1 Synth, still tapping. Not as bad, and doesn't really tap at idle, just when I give it gas. Haven't driven it, because I can't really afford to mess something up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Car is(was) immaculate, and has been very well cared for before I bought it, and since I bought it. Please help...Thanks, Doug
